Projects
While studying at my institution, I was granted the opportunity to become equipped in interior design and architecture softwares and the design process as a whole. As I explored every part of the interior design industry, I completed projects to showcase my talents and skills.
Each project, while having its own flare of style, represents different pieces of me as a designer.
Our program gave me experience in designing for residential, hospitality, corporate, sustainability, and healthcare design.
Harmony Homes Dementia Care Facility
Project Overview
Healthcare Design Studio
Charleston, West Virginia
Facility houses twelve dementia patients.
Dementia care is a complex process that requires every element of a patient's life to be a component to their health. The design of a dementia care facility can be a key factor in slowing the progression of this mental condition. This has been my favorite design I have completed for a multitude of reasons. But the most being how this project shows the true meaning of design and how it impacts everyone's lives. Interior design means creating spaces that depict comfort, spaces that just make sense. That alone is the best medicine for all people, and all things people face in life.
Spring 2021
Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Center
Museum/Tourist Facility
Sustainability Design Studio
Florence, Alabama
Re-design of existing building.
Project Overview
The Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Center is located right in view of the Tennessee River at McFarland Park. This building serves the area as the central location for all things Shoals Tourism. The Frank Llyoyd Wright inspired architecture makes this space unique and the perfect fit for the character that flows from the Shoals. For this project, I took the existing structure and designed the space to be targeted to informing the public about the Cherokee Indian history in the Shoals area. This design was done under strict sustainability regulations in mind. Due to this, my knowledge and appreciation of green design grew and flourished. All furniture, light fixtures, and finishes selected play part in creating this L.E.E.D. certified design.
Fall 2020
Residential Home
Project Overview
Partial design of a 1700 sq ft one story home.
Personal Project
Charlotte, North Carolina
Spring 2021
This project was completed outside of my course work to display skills not found in my other projects. This residential space design is to showcase the selection process and designing the overall aesthetic of a home. I enjoyed working on this personal project because of the freedom to express my own personal style. This home is styled as a transitional contemporary space with elements of English colonial patterns and colors. This space radiates the meaning of comfort within one's living space as the selections are soothing to the eye. This project focuses solely on aesthetic and the art of combining pieces to produce a successful space.
Bowspirit Advertising Agency
Advertising Agency
Office Building
Corporate Design Studio
Richmond, Virginia
Office building for 50 employees.
Project Overview
Designing for this project came with many challenges that taught me so much about the corporate design industry. I would describe this design for Bowspirit as modern minimalist. I took the typical corporate design structure style and added in playful elements to create an enjoyable work environment. My goal for this design is to create an equally comfortable environment for both employee and client. Appealing to the client is an important element in a successful business, as well as employees that do not grow tiresome of their workspace. Use of ergonomics in furniture was used heavily in this project. Overall, this project opened my eyes to how corporate design is a fast pace fast growing industry. One that houses so many opportunities for a designer to be creative and structured at the same time.
Spring 2020
Party of One
Brunch Restaurant
Hospitality Design Studio
Franklin, Tennessee
Re-design of existing building.
Fall 2019
Project Overview
Everyone loves brunch, especially at that picture perfect spot that just makes one feel as if everything is right in the world. This is one of my favorite projects because it was so enjoyable every step of the design process. I selected to do a brunch spot to highlight the playful side of my design style. I tend to be more transitional but this project widened my range of using colors, patterns, and styles out of my comfort zone. This design is located in downtown Franklin, Tennessee. I selected this location because a design like this one would fit right into the area. By the end of the project, I found myself wanting to go enjoy a beautiful plate of french toast at Party of One.
Kitchen Design
Project Overview
Detailed residential kitchen design.
Residential Design Studio
Summer 2019
There is a special art in kitchen and bath design that I got the chance to explore during this project. This kitchen design is to showcase this area of the design industry. This project was one of the first ones I completed in design school, I mention that because it was the project that made me fall in love with this industry. This project allowed me to be detailed oriented but still have a creativity incorporated into the final project. Designing this kitchen taught me how intricate interior design is and how every detail counts.
